Born and raised in L.A., Robert Vargas has played

a central role in the shaping of the revitalized DTLA art

scene thanks to his omnipresence on the streets, where

people line up to see his infamous drawing sessions.

Vargas' portraiture has garnered attention from Pop

Group Far East Movement, who performed alongside Vargas as

he painted a mural of them, and was featured on the cover of

LA Weekly’s “Best of LA/ People” 2011, following

numerous editorial coverage for his work.  The city of

LA even showed some love by presenting him with two

recognitions in the past 6 months for his artistic

contributions to the city! Vargas is set to open a body of

new paintings and new works on paper for solo exhibition at

the JNA Gallery in Bergamot Station Art Center in Santa

Monica Summer 2013.
