From 1940-1980 numerous murals were created by African Americans in Los Angeles. The Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles (MCLA) has created a Virtual Mural Tour for the California African American Museum (CAAM) as part of theĀ Places of Validation, Art & ProgressionĀ exhibition (a Getty's PST initiative). We are grateful to all the muralists, art historians, photographers, cultural organizations, and art advocates that made possible for MCLA to document this important segment of African American History. Join MCLA in celebrating African American History at CAAM this Friday, September 30th, 2011 for the opening reception (7.30-10 a.m.). Museum admission is free, RSVP is required.
