After growing up in the Pico-Union nieghborhood just west of downtown Los Angeles, Martinez (born 1967) studied at Otis/Parsons School of Art and Design, the University of Southern California, and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He currently teaches ceramics and silkscreen at the Exceptional Children's Foundation, and is on the Advisory Board of the Craft and Folk Art Museum. (Robin K.
