Born in Fresno, his family returned to northern Italy when he was still a child. At 15 Politi (born 1908) won a national scholarship to study at the University of Art and Decoration in the Royal Palace of Monza, near Milan. He then taught textile and tapestry design. In 1930 he permanently settled in Los Angeles. In addition to his local murals, he also did one for the theater at the University of Fresno.
