Born in Los Angeles, Herrón is one of the first high school drop outs of 1969 to incorporate existing gang graffiti into his paintings and his street art, essentially creating iconic world class art and murals, that has been internationally recognized. Herrón exhibits his artwork in films, music performances, and museums through the U.S and in Europe. Willie Herrón's artworks are currently on exhibition at the Vincent Price Art Museum (VPAM) in Monterey Park. Herrón will be part of the upcoming Asco: Elite of the Obscure, A Retrospective, 1972-1987 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), September 4, 2011-December 4, 2011. Herrón will also be exhibiting at the Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA) beginning October, 2011.
