Description / Interpretation:

Designed by Emily Winters, assisted by Judith Foster. Painted by Jaya, a Women Artists Collective. On the left side a bulldozer tears down a house with someone in it. The other side shows how the Venice canals would be developed under the nurturing care of the residents theselves. The word Jaya in Sanscrit means non-violent victory. The mural was restored in 1996, sponsored by SPARC. Restored in 2007 by Emily Winters, assisted by Suzanne Thompson, sponsored by Bill Rosendahl CD 11. Photo  © Ian Robertson-Salt
