Description / Interpretation:

Originally Mexican master muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros was commissioned by the officers of Plaza de la Raza to paint a mural, but he died before he could do it. Flores was selected as his replacement. The mural is a tribute to the contributions made by Chicano working people-campesinos, garment workers, welders, and retail clerks. Also included are portraits of some of the local leaders who have contributed to the community. Photo: © Robin Dunitz
