Description / Interpretation:

The various steps in the production and distribution of a newspaper are shown through vignettes, from the writer working at his desk to the paper boy and delivery truck. A second mural across the room shows images from the history of Los Angeles. In 1961 the murals were covered with aluminium panels when the building was modernized. However, renewed interest in the work of Hugo Ballin and the art of the WPA era led to their restoration, completed in 1990. Sponsored and Commissioned by Los Angeles Times. Photo © Robin Dunitz.
