Originally painted by David Botello, Joe Gonzalez, Johnny Gonzalez, and Robert Arenivar. Repainted in 2013 by David Botello, Joe Gonzalez, and Benjamin Botello. The Short Life of John Doe ( La Vida Breve de Alfonso Fulano.) The story of the community of Maravilla, one of the earliest settlements in East Los Angeles, originally home to those fleeing religious persecution in Mexico. The tale is told through the eyes of one anonymous old man, who explains to his young companion how the area has changed over the years. Photo © David Botello
