Description / Interpretation:

A powerful image by a first-time muralist addressing the feelings raised by the community uprising in late April 1992, in the aftermath of the legal verdict acquitting the police who were videotaped beating motorist Rodney King. The mural shows lynchings of the past and police brutality of today as history repeating itself. Sponsored and commissioned by Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC). Photo: © Robin Dunitz
