Originally from Mobile, Alabama, Giri (born 1957) studied at the San Francisco Academy of Art, then earned a B.F.A. in painting and sculpture from Auburn University in 1983. After moving to Los Angeles in 1987, he worked in the television industry for two years, doing art work, set dressing, and special effects.
