Johanna Poethig has studied at the American Art Academy of Art in Chicago, UC Santa Cruz, and Mills College. She has contributed more than 30 murals to the Bay Area, and in 1994, she received the Bay Area Master Muralist Award. She teaches at Cal State Monterey Bay and is the art director at the San Francisco Inner City Public Art Project for Youth.
