This English-born artist came to southern California at age 21. Boyd studied drawing at California State University, Long Beach, but is a self-taught painter. Her first involvement with murals was in 1976, when she worked with several artists, including Willie Herron, on a project in Hawaiian Gardens. None of those murals survive. Since 1989 Boyd has taught English and history in a South Gate junior high school. She lives in Long Beach. (Robin K. Dunitz, Street Gallery, Guide to over 1000 Los Angeles Murals)
