Glenna Avila (1953 - ) was born in Los Angeles, received a B.A. in art from UCLA in 1975 and an M.A. in art from the University of New Mexico in 1976. After completing her formal education, Avila became director of the Los Angeles Citywide Murals Program and was responsible for coordinating approximately 250 community murals. She later became director of three Los Angeles City photography centers, and taught at Cal-Arts in Valencia. In recent years, Avila has worked with children in executing murals at elementary schools located throughout Los Angeles County. Her work has also been exhibited at galleries and museums, including the Wight Gallery at UCLA, Gemini G.E.L., the B-1 Gallery, Self-Help Graphics and the Galeria Otra Vez. (Source)
